What Happens When Things Go Wrong
- iOS Media Services Reset — If the audio system crashes (rare but possible), the app detects it and offers to resume playback. No need to force-quit.
- Android Background Kill — On some Android devices, aggressive battery optimization kills background services. The app detects this and shows a guidance dialog with links to the correct settings.
- Network Drops — Radio stream interrupted? A connectivity cooldown prevents rapid retry storms. The app recovers gracefully when the network returns.
- Route Loss — Bluetooth speaker disconnects? Playback pauses instead of switching to the phone speaker unexpectedly.
Artwork on the Lock Screen
iOS pre-caches station artwork when building the transport queue, so the lock screen shows artwork immediately — no blank placeholder. The app uses a reliable artwork pipeline: station favicon → Google Favicon 256px → default app icon. Track-level cover art from ICY metadata updates the in-app player, while the lock screen keeps the station logo for stability.
Android: Notifications & Foreground Service
On Android, background playback requires a foreground service with an ongoing notification. LiveTune Radio's notification shows the station name, artwork, and controls. The service is optimized to stay alive when paused, and the notification is dismissible when not listening.
